Access to computers is not something every school in The Gambia can take for granted. For many communities, the idea of a functioning IT room with enough equipment for a full class of students is still a distant goal. TechForAll Foundation is working to change that, one donation at a time.
We collect, prepare and donate computers and laptops to schools and communities in The Gambia, giving young people the equipment they need to participate in IT training and build practical digital skills.
Why Equipment Matters
You cannot teach IT Foundation or cybersecurity without computers. These are hands-on subjects that require students to work directly with technology, not just read about it. When a school lacks equipment, lessons become theoretical and the skills students need for employment remain out of reach.
In many parts of The Gambia, schools are willing and teachers are ready, but the hardware simply is not there. Classrooms may have one or two working machines shared between many students, or none at all. Donating computers to these schools directly enables the training to happen.
How We Deliver Donations
TechForAll Foundation works with school leadership, community leaders and local contacts to identify where equipment is most needed. Donations are handed over through community ceremonies, with school principals and representatives present, so that the handover is transparent and accountable to the community being served.
Before any device is donated, it is checked and prepared to ensure it is in working condition. We aim to donate equipment that will last and that students can genuinely use for their studies.
What donated equipment supports
- IT Foundation: Students learning how computer hardware and software works need machines to open, explore and practise on
- Cybersecurity: Practical security exercises depend entirely on having computers available
"Receiving these computers means our students can now practise what they are being taught. Before, we could only explain things on the board. Now they can do it themselves."
The Wider Impact on Communities
When a school receives computers, the benefit extends beyond the students in the classroom. Teachers develop their own skills working with the equipment. Younger pupils see older students engaging with technology and understand that computing is something accessible to them too. Families in the community become aware that their children are gaining skills that are valued in the job market.
Equipment donation is not a one-off gesture. It is an investment in the long-term capacity of a school and its community to engage with technology.
How You Can Help
If you or your organisation have computers, laptops or tablets that are no longer in use, donating them to TechForAll Foundation means they can be put to work in a school in The Gambia. We handle the logistics and ensure devices reach the communities that need them most.
Your unused equipment could be the difference between a student studying computing on paper and studying it in practice.
Donate IT Equipment
Computers and laptops you no longer need could support IT training for young people in The Gambia.
