About TechForAll Foundation

What is the TechForAll Foundation?

TechForAll Foundation is a registered charity in the UK (charity number 1211494) dedicated to empowering Gambian youth through free technology education and entrepreneurial training. We provide digital literacy programmes, IT skills training, and mentorship to young people who would otherwise have no access to these opportunities.

What motivated the creation of TechForAll Foundation?

The foundation was established by Yaya Trawally following the loss of close friends and loved ones to the dangerous "Backway" migration route — a perilous overland and sea journey many young Gambians attempt in search of opportunities in Europe. His mission is deeply personal: by creating real economic opportunities at home through technology education, young people no longer need to risk their lives to build a future.

What is the foundation's main goal?

Our ultimate goal is to cultivate a self-sustaining technology ecosystem in The Gambia that nurtures young leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs. We want every young Gambian to have access to the digital skills they need to succeed, without having to leave their country to find opportunity.

Who does the foundation serve?

We primarily serve Gambian youth, including young women through our Girls In Tech programme, who face barriers to education and employment. We also work with schools, community organisations, and local businesses across The Gambia to extend our reach.

Is TechForAll Foundation a registered charity?

Yes. TechForAll Foundation is a registered charity in England & Wales, charity number 1211494, regulated by the Charity Commission.

Our Programmes

What types of programmes does the foundation offer?

Our core programmes include:

  • Tech Training — coding, software development, networking, cybersecurity, and general IT skills
  • Girls In Tech — dedicated programmes empowering young women in technology
  • Entrepreneurship Training — business skills, mentorship, and start-up guidance
  • Digital Literacy — foundational digital skills for beginners
  • Community Innovation Projects — technology solutions to local challenges
Can participants choose specific programmes?

Yes. Our programmes are designed to be flexible so participants can choose the skills and training that align best with their interests and career goals. We encourage young people to pursue what excites them most.

How do you measure success?

We measure impact through the number of youth trained, employment outcomes, new businesses launched by graduates, and feedback from participants and their communities. We publish regular updates and aim to produce annual reports to share our progress transparently.

How can Gambian youth apply for programmes?

As our programmes roll out, application details will be made available on this website and through local community centres and schools in The Gambia. Follow our social media channels or subscribe to our newsletter to be notified when applications open.

Donations & Transparency

How is the foundation funded?

We are funded by generous individual donations, charitable grants, corporate partnerships, and in-kind contributions such as donated IT equipment. Every contribution is directed towards delivering impactful programmes.

How will my donation be used?

Your donation supports:

  • Training materials, software licences, and course resources
  • Refurbishing and shipping donated IT equipment to The Gambia
  • Operating costs for our digital hub and training facilities
  • Outreach to reach underserved youth communities
  • Trainer and coordinator stipends
How does the foundation ensure transparency?

We are committed to transparency through regular programme updates, annual reporting, and financial audits required as a registered UK charity. We share impact stories, statistics, and updates on social media and our website so supporters can see the difference their contributions make.

Can I donate IT equipment?

Yes — donated laptops, desktops, tablets, monitors, and other IT equipment are enormously valuable. We refurbish and ship them to our digital hub in The Gambia. Visit the Donate IT Equipment section to find out how to arrange a donation.

Looking Ahead

What are the foundation's future plans?

  • Establishing a full-scale technology hub with permanent training facilities
  • Scaling the Girls In Tech programme to reach more young women
  • Launching an entrepreneurship accelerator for graduates
  • Potentially expanding our model to other West African countries
Is TechForAll Foundation considering global expansion?

While The Gambia remains our primary focus, we aspire to share our model and expertise with communities in need worldwide. As we grow and demonstrate impact, we aim to become a replicable blueprint for tech education in underserved communities globally.
